Gematria is an ancient form of code that can be used to assign numerical values to words or phrases. The underlying basis of the code is that each letter in the alphabet corresponds to a numerical value, and when these values are added together, they reveal hidden meanings and associations. Gematria involves complex mathematical calculations and can often seem intimidating to those unfamiliar with it. However, it is actually fairly straightforward once one understands the basic principles. Here are some tips on how to use the gematria code effectively:
Step 1: Familiarize yourself with the number/letter combination.
At its core, gematria works by equating certain numbers to letters in an alphabet. For example, in Greek Gematria, A=1, B=2, and so on. To get started with gematria code, it's important to familiarize yourself with this number/letter combination.
Step 2: Select your language of choice.
There are multiple languages that utilize the Gematria code; Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek being amongst the most popular. It should be noted that each language has a slightly different numerical system; for example, in classical Hebrew Gematria each letter corresponds to a two digit number rather than a single digit number as is seen in Greek and Aramaic Gematrai systems. Additionally, there are variations between individual gematrai systems so make sure you do your research to determine which system works best for your particular application.
Step 3: Start coding words or phrases into numbers!
Once you've familiarized yourself with the number/letter combination for your chosen language of Gematrai as well as any relevant variants within that system, you're ready to start decoding words or phrases into numbers! To do this simply look at each letter within your word/phrase and refer back to your numerical value grid corresponding with that language (or variant). For example; 'gematria' would turn into 7-5-40-1-20-9-1-1 (7+5+40+1+20+9+1+1=84) if you were using Classical Hebrew Gemaraic numbering system. This will yield you a single number which often can reveal hidden meanings or associations within your chosen text as well as providing additional context by comparing required gemaraic values for other related items such as characters or objects etc (though be aware using too few characters may yield vague or inconclusive results).
Step 4: Expand your repertoire!
